Description:
One stereograph of "The Descent from the Cross," the central panel of a triptych painting by Peter Paul Rubens in 1612-1614. The painting is in the Cathedral of Our Lady, Antwerp. The photographs are mounted on yellow cardboard and the back has a handwritten notation about the piece as well as the date "July 12, '75." Antwerp was apparently the first stop of a European tour made by M. F. H., traveling from Belgium to Switzerland, Italy, France, England and Scotland in July and August of 1875.
